SDA Apartments - Kearney Springs

  • Description: The project delivered a three-storey building providing 6 high-care units and support facilities.

  • Avant Scope: Structural design of piled raft foundations, on ground slab, suspended reinforced concrete slabs, masonry walls, in-situ columns, timber and steel framing for building roofs. We provided an alternate tender solution to eliminate transfer structure which significantly reduced the foundation requirements in comparison to the original solution.

Social Housing - Newtown

  • Client: McNab, Department of Housing and Public Works

  • Build Cost: ~$7.1 Million

  • Description: The project delivered 6 x 2 bed and 13 x 1 bed units, across a two-storey and one-storey buildings.

  • Avant Scope: Structural design of the raft foundations, on ground slab, suspended composite slabs, masonry walls and columns, concrete stairs, timber and steel framing for awnings and roofs. We provided alternate suspended slab solutions which greatly reduced construction program and costs.

Ascend Apartments - Kings Beach

  • Client: Hutchinson Builders

  • Build Cost: ~$13 Million

  • Description: The project delivered an 8-storey apartment building, including two levels of basement carparking.

  • Avant Scope: Structural design of the piled foundations, shoring walls, on ground slab, suspended post-tensioned and reinforced slabs, in-situ concrete and masonry walls and columns, and steel framing for the roof and entry awning. We provided an alternate tender design, which eliminated one level of transfer, reduced the extent of load-bearing walls, and achieved a flat-plate slab design.

  • Description: The project delivered 14 x 1 bed units, across two separate two-storey buildings.

  • Avant Scope: Structural design of the raft foundations, on ground slab, suspended composite slabs, masonry walls and columns, concrete stairs, timber and steel framing for awnings and roofs. We provided alternate suspended slab solutions which greatly reduced construction program and costs.

NDIS Apartments - Newtown

  • Client: Bryant Building Contractors

  • Build Cost: ~$3.5 Million

  • Description: The project delivered a new two-storey building providing 5 high-care units.

  • Avant Scope: Structural design of the raft foundations, on ground slab, suspended reinforced slabs, masonry walls and columns, concrete stairs, timber and steel framing for awnings and roofs. We worked closely with the geotechnical engineer and client to achieve better understanding of site conditions and allow for a more cost-effective foundation solution.  We also reduced the extent of vertical walls without impacting the structural slab depth.

  • Build Cost: ~$11 Million

  • Description: The project delivered a new social housing precinct, including a two-storey townhouse and a three-storey apartment building.

  • Avant Scope: Structural design of a flat-plate raft slab, suspended reinforced slabs, masonry walls and columns, concrete stairs, timber and steel framing for awnings, roofs, and townhouse floor structure. We provided alternate tender design to simplify and reduce the vertical structure and slab depths/complexity.
